Ohio Middle School Recognition Process

In the interest of recognizing middle schools for excellence and honoring the Gateway to Technology programs which achieve it, middle schools  in the PLTW Ohio network will be eligible for recognition as exemplary in Ohio based on the following criteria:

  • The school is offering 3 or more modules from the PLTW Gateway to Technology program, including DM & AR.
  • The school has been offering Gateway to Technology for two or more years
  • The middle school program is linked to a high school PLTW program to facilitate smooth transition of students in the STEM pathway  
  • The  middle school contributes data to the national PLTW data collection system

To be recognized, please complete the following: 

1.  Contact the PLTW Ohio affliliate to indicate you are interested in pursuing national recognition.

2. The PLTW Ohio affiliate will set up a site visit date and times during which they will meet with the administration, teacher, counselor and two or more students. 

3.  Complete the Self Assessment and send or email a copy of it to the Ohio State Affiliate.

4. Once the visit is completed, and if the school is approved, a Certificate of Recognition will be issued by Ohio PLTW and a recommendation for Recognition will be forwarded to National PLTW. 

5.  A fee of $300 will be charged for the Ohio Recognition Site Visit and is payable to Sinclair Community College through the PLTW Ohio affliliate.
